IoD-Gh Corporate Governance Excellence Awards
Introduction
The Institute of Directors-Ghana (IoD-Gh) is a professional organization committed to the practice of corporate governance. As part of its strategic efforts to celebrate the achievements of outstanding individual personalities and corporate organizations that have represented excellence in leadership, corporate governance, and have made significant contributions to the socioeconomic development of Ghana, the Institute of Directors-Ghana has established a competitive annual award to be known and called IoD-Gh Corporate Governance Excellence Awards.
The overarching aim of the awards is to champion professionalism and development of directors to pursue best practices of good corporate governance for the benefit of organizations and stakeholders and for the prosperity of Ghana.
Aim
The Awards Scheme is meant to identify, recognize, and celebrate the achievements of individual personalities and organizations that have excelled in the practice of good corporate governance.
The cascading effect will be to motivate others within all sectors of the Ghanaian economy to increase productivity.
Theme
The theme for the Sixth (6th) Edition of the Excellence Awards is: “Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Reporting: Essential Layers of Good Corporate Governance and Sustainable Growth”.

The official name of the awards is IoD-Gh Corporate Governance Excellence Awards
Expected Outcomes
- To encourage professionalism in corporate governance by identifying and honoring deserving personalities and institutions.
- To create a pool of achieving leaders to encourage efficiency and commitment to high standards in public and private sectors of Ghana.
- To increase the awareness of IoD-Gh’s contribution to good corporate governance practice in Ghana.
Who Qualifies to be Awarded?
Participation is for individuals and corporate organizations in the public and private sectors in Ghana.
Nominations are officially opened. The general public (members and non-members) are invited to participate in the awards process.
The awards technical committee would sit to review all submitted nominations and carry out relevant due diligence on nominees. The awards technical committee would present the nominees in order of merit to the IoD-Gh council for further action
Timelines
Nominations opened on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 and closed on Wednesday, November 8, 2023
The awards ceremony is scheduled for Friday, November 15, 2024
