IoD-Gh has received with profound sadness and sorrow the tragic news of the helicopter crash that occurred on Wednesday, 6th August, 2025, claiming the lives of eight (8) distinguished individuals, whose commitment to national service and development was exemplary and inspiring.
This heartbreaking incident has cast a dark shadow over our nation. On behalf of the Governing Council, Members, and Secretariat of the Institute of Directors-Ghana, we extend our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to the Government of the Republic of Ghana, the bereaved families, the Ghana Armed Forces, political institutions, and all citizens affected by this national tragedy. We honour the lives and legacies of these remarkable individuals who have served Ghana with distinction. Their contributions to peace, security, governance, and democratic development will not be forgotten.
Among the deceased were two Ministers of State: Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for Defense and Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Minister for Environment, Science and Technology. Also lost in the devastating tragedy were Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, Dr. Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, Mr. Samuel Aboagye, Deputy Director General of the National Disaster Management Organization and former Parliamentary Candidate, Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Malin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
As an institution dedicated to the promotion of ethical leadership, good governance, and national development, the Institute stands in solidarity with the entire nation.
The passing of these patriots is not only a personal loss to their families and communities but a profound loss to the entire nation. May their souls rest in perfect peace, and may comfort, strength, and healing be granted to their immediate families and the entire nation in this time of national mourning.
