The Institute of Directors-Ghana (IoD-Gh) has made its seventh annual donation to the Dzorwulu Special School, reaffirming its commitment to supporting the school and contributing to the wellbeing of children with special needs.
The donation was made on Thursday, 24 September 2026, during a visit by the Institute’s leadership, management and staff to the school. The items presented included toiletries, bags of rice, biscuits, drinks and beverages, cooking oil and other essential supplies to support the school and its students.
The occasion was also particularly significant as it coincided with the birthday of the President of IoD-Gh and Chair of the Governing Council, Mrs. Mary Asare-Yeboah, FIoD. The President marked her special day by joining colleagues in giving back to the school and spending time with the students.
Speaking at the event, Mrs. Asare-Yeboah said the Dzorwulu Special School continues to hold a special place in the hearts of the Institute, noting that IoD-Gh remains committed to its annual support for the school.
“You will always occupy a special place in our hearts as we continue to make our yearly donations to you,” she said.
Beyond the donation, the President used the occasion to make a broader appeal to corporate Ghana to take a more active role in supporting persons with special needs.
She called on corporate boards and business executives to make inclusion part of their boardroom agenda and encouraged organisations to consider adopting special-needs schools and building sustained partnerships with them.
“Every child with special needs deserves dignity, respect, and love. That child must be given every opportunity to reach his or her full potential,” Mrs. Asare-Yeboah stated.
She further emphasised that laws and policies alone cannot transform the lives of people with disabilities, stressing the importance of action by individuals, institutions and boards in advancing inclusion.
School Appreciates IoD-Gh’s Continued Support
The Headmaster of Dzorwulu Special School, Mr. Frederick Tetteh, expressed appreciation to the Institute for its continued support and for returning to the school year after year.
Mr. Tetteh thanked the Institute of Directors-Ghana for its continued partnership with the school and for the essential items presented to support the students. He noted that the Institute’s sustained commitment over the years demonstrates the importance of partnerships between corporate institutions and special-needs schools.
He expressed appreciation to the leadership, management and staff of IoD-Gh for making the school a consistent part of the Institute’s social impact efforts and encouraged other organisations to follow the Institute’s example by supporting institutions that serve children with special needs.

The donation also provided an opportunity for the IoD-Gh team to interact with the students and appreciate their talents. The President commended the students for their performance and expressed gratitude to the teachers and staff for their dedication to the children.
Mrs. Asare-Yeboah described the work of the school’s staff as “a calling responded to with extraordinary love,” recognising their daily commitment to helping the students learn, grow and reach their potential.
The seventh donation to Dzorwulu Special School reinforces IoD-Gh’s commitment to responsible leadership beyond the boardroom.
