As part of its effort to enhance effective corporate governance compliance, the Institute of Directors (IoD) Ghana has stepped up moves to enhance outreach of good corporate governance practices by inaugurating its second regional branch in Koforidua in the Eastern Region.
Members constituted onto the Branch Committee are mandated to serve in championing best corporate practices in the region.
This forms part of strategic measures of the Institute to establish ten (10) regional branches by the end of July, 2019 and follows the establishment of the Volta Regional branch last April in the quest of bringing good corporate practices to the doorsteps of members and ensure that all operations of the IoD are easily accessible by the public within their respective regions.
MoU
The inauguration of the Committee comes after a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed last week between officials of IoD and representatives of Koforidua Technical Institute (KTU) to promote corporate governance practices.
It will be recalled that the Institute has already started developing collaborations with tertiary and higher educational institutions in the country to promote research, mandatory institute-wide courses and students’ organisations in effective corporate governance and leadership practices.
This collaboration, among other things, is aimed at ensuring that corporate governance is factored into the mindset and curriculum of all tertiary institutions in the country.
“The envisaged collaboration between the IoD-Ghana and the Koforidua Technical University, Koforidua, shall involve the parties in promoting and advancing the course of teaching, learning, and practice of good corporate governance in the educational institutions and industry”, a portion of the MoU states.
