1. INTRODUCTION

The Institute of Directors Ghana (IoD-Gh) is a professional institute established in 1999 whose core mandate is to promote best practices in corporate governance through training, advocacy, research and consultancy. IoD-GH seeks to represent directors’ interest and facilitate their professional development and training in good corporate governance practices.

As part of strategic efforts to create awareness and promote the culture of good corporate governance, the Institute of Directors, Ghana, is dedicating the month of February to engage with the media to propagate the agenda and sensitize the public on some core issues of good corporate governance in Ghana.

2. OBJECTIVES

A. To engage and collaborate with the media to educate the public
B. To create awareness about best practices in corporate governance.
C. To educate the media on corporate governance.
D. To inform corporate institutions on the implications of non-compliance to corporate governance codes and policies.
E. To solicit public opinion to address emerging issues on corporate governance challenges in Ghana.
F. To create public awareness of IoD-Gh and its mandate.
G. To inform stakeholders about IoD-Gh’s strategic plans and the programs outlined for 2019.

3. EXPECTED OUTPUT 

A. Good insight into best practices in corporate governance by the general public.
B. Well informed media to promote the principles and practices of sound corporate governance.
C. Increased drive by corporate bodies to implement the culture of corporate governance.
D. Public dialogue on solutions to prevailing issues on corporate governance.
E. Strategic partnerships established between IoD- Gh and the media.
F. Increased presence of IoD-Gh in the media space.
G. Awareness of IoD-Gh’s annual plan and activities.

4. PROPOSED ACTIVITIES

The list of activities for the observation of the Media Engagement Month include:

A. Press Conference and press statement.
B. Publication of a communiqué from the fallout of the Corporate Governance Conference, Nov. 2018
C. Visit to Media Houses; signing of an MoU between the Institute and media houses to collaborate in the promotion of the principles and practices of good corporate governance
D. One day training for media houses on Corporate Governance.
E. Public lecture on good corporate governance on 26th February, 2019 at the British Council at 8:30 to 11:30am.
